I know, I know,,, I’m late to the Pubbelly fan club party, but I just tried Pubbelly Sushi for the first time and I need to vent my excitement.
This is one of those restaurants where sharing everything is the way to go, so pack up that minivan with as many friends as you can.

First dish to hit the table was the butter krab roll. Why butter you ask? Because you get to dip the damn thing in clarified butter (winning!). Very yummy. Get it.

Next came the crispy salmon roll, with eel sauce and spicy mayo (two of my favorite sauces). Loved it. The sweetness of the the sauces made this fried roll taste decadent. Add an extra Zumba class to your week if you must and have this roll.

A little healthier and equally delicious was the yellowtail roll. It had truffled yuzu so you know I had to have it. Wrapped in soy paper and with a touch of tempura flakes, this roll also had some awesome textures.

Tostones con ceviche were next. I’m Latin. I love plantains in every way, shape, and form. I also love ceviche. So I knew I’d love this dish and I did. The crispy tostones mixed with the super fresh ceviche was a winning combination. I may start requiring that my ceviche always be accompanied by tostones.

Tuna pizza, with raw tuna of course and a sprinkle of truffle oil. As you (should) know by now, raw fish + truffle oil = happiness over here. Loved this dish. The buttery tuna, the crispy tortilla, perfect.

More raw fish was required so we had the salmon tartare taquitos. The salmon was all buttery deliciousness, plus the creamy avocado mousse and the crisp pico de gallo. Another winner.

It’s not often that veggies excite me, but man oh man, the zucchini with yuzu-truffle sauce was all flavor.

If there’s one veggie you need to have though, it’s the truffle corn (no I can’t have enough truffle). My oh my, Pubbelly Sushi, this corn was to die. We actually kept ordering more and more of it. Grilled to perfection and then covered in cotija cheese, truffle crema (the way the Lord intended) and some yuzu, this corn is the corn all the other corns want to be like. It’s the popular, cheerleader corn. It’s delicious.

So after we’d devoured all this, another friend showed up and we felt obliged to order another dish (and more corn). Thankfully we went for the bigeye tuna roll, with spicy mayo, piled on top of a crispy rice cube (?). Did I mention it had truffle oil? After the corn, my favorite dish of the night.

Despite being stuffed, we split two desserts: the coco loco (which is coconut, coconut, and more coconut…and is amazing), and a bread pudding which was accompanied by miso ice cream and dulce de leche. Yowzah. Get the dessert.
So in conclusion, I am officially on the Pubbelly bandwagon.
