Ambiance: 3/5

Service: 4.75/5

I’ve passed by Lettuce and Tomato a hundred times, so I’m not quite sure why I had never tried it before. I had lunch there today, though, and was pleasantly surprised.

First to arrive at our table were the truffle tuna bites. When I look at a menu, I pretty much feel the urge to order anything with the word “truffle” in it. I also happen to have a baby at home so it wasn’t too long ago that I was pregnant and unable to enjoy raw fish, so post-partum I go on a bit of a raw food rampage. This plate did not disappoint. It was delicate and delicious and satisfied my urge for truffle and raw all mixed together.

Next, the short rib soft buns arrived. The buns were sweet and, well, soft. Mixed with savory beef short ribs, it was heaven. My favorite plate of the day.

We ordered a Brie with berries. So if you’ve ever been to Perricone’s in Brickell, you know this dish has been perfected. I didn’t love this version of the baked Brie. It was covered in some sort of crispy exterior, but it added no flavor. My least favorite dish of the day.

We had two salads: seared tuna and avocado and crispy egg. The seared tuna was good, not great. The dressing was a bit plain. That’s all.

Now the avocado and crispy egg salad you need to try. The crispy egg is perfectly cooked and mixed with the avocado and the sweetness of the dressing…yum.

Lastly, we had the creamy quinoa. Quinoa has the opposite effect on me as truffle. I always fear it’ll be tasteless :/. Well not this one. As a friend pointed out, it was like having a decadent risotto. And of course, the fact that it had truffle oil didn’t make me mad. Lettuce and Tomato, we’ll be back.
