All my in laws had to say was that they were in the mood for Vietnamese. My husband and I happily obliged with dinner at Basilic (woohoo!). This is one of those neighborhood jewels, inconspicuously tucked away in a strip mall. They have the killer combination of awesomely flavorful food paired with great prices. It’s the perfect restaurant for a Sunday night dinner.

We began our meal with classic fresh spring rolls accompanied with a peanut dipping sauce. The rolls are as crisp and fresh as it gets, with a hint of mint that just makes me smile. Dip those babies in the peanut sauce and prepare to feel straight up joyful. The sweetness paired with the freshness…it’s just delicious.

We ordered the shaking beef and the lemongrass chicken to share between my husband, my three-year old and myself. That’s right, the food is so flavorful my three-year old nearly licked his plate clean.

The shaking beef (love the name) is filet mignon (and as such is super tender) cooked with peppers and onions. It’s beyond flavorful.

The lemongrass chicken isn’t far behind in the flavor category. It’s chicken marinated with lemongrass. You really can’t go wrong.
For dessert? Get their green tea and red bean ice creams. Yum.
Fun fact: Basilic has a nice big fish tank at the entrance of the restaurant. That means once our son was done eating, he had free entertainment staring at fishes, crabs, and corals and mommy and daddy got to eat at a nice slow pace. Thank you Basilic
